Low income earners across the Rodney Electorate still have the opportunity to apply for a non-mains energy rebate through the Non-Mains Energy Concession scheme that closes on January 31 2012.
Nationals Member for Rodney, Paul Weller said Victorian concession households that rely on LPG, firewood or heating oil for domestic heating, cooking or hot water, and/or those who are individually metered for electricity but who pay a caravan park or accommodation proprietor, can still access the rebate.
Non-mains customers who use an alternate fuel such as diesel, petrol or heating oil as their main domestic energy source are also eligible for the annual electricity rebate.
The amount of the rebate depends on the annual amount on non-mains energy purchased and the rebate amount is increased annually in line with inflation.
To be eligible for the rebate, individuals must hold a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, Centrelink Care Card or Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Gold Card.
For more information on the Non-Mains Energy Concession or any other energy related rebate or concession contact the Victorian concessions free information line on 1800 658 521.
