NON-MAINS ENERGY CONCESSION REBATE STILL AVAILABLE

Paul Weller - Wednesday, January 18, 2012

Low income earners across the Rodney Electorate still have the opportunity to apply for a non-mains energy rebate through the Non-Mains Energy Concession scheme that closes on January 31 2012.

Nationals Member for Rodney, Paul Weller said Victorian concession households that rely on LPG, firewood or heating oil for domestic heating, cooking or hot water, and/or those who are individually metered for electricity but who pay a caravan park or accommodation proprietor, can still access the rebate.

Non-mains customers who use an alternate fuel such as diesel, petrol or heating oil as their main domestic energy source are also eligible for the annual electricity rebate.

The amount of the rebate depends on the annual amount on non-mains energy purchased and the rebate amount is increased annually in line with inflation.

To be eligible for the rebate, individuals must hold a Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, Centrelink Care Card or Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Gold Card.

For more information on the Non-Mains Energy Concession or any other energy related rebate or concession contact the Victorian concessions free information line on 1800 658 521.

Application forms and information on eligibility for all rebates and concessions can be accessed at www.dhs.vic.gov.au/concessions.

GOOD NEWS ON POWER BILLS - WELLER

Paul Weller - Monday, February 21, 2011

Nationals Member for Rodney Paul Weller has welcomed the early introduction of year-round discounts on electricity bills for Victorians who hold pensioner concession cards, health care cards or Veterans’ gold cards.

He said the Coalition Government was delivering on a promise it made prior to the last election to introduce a year-round concession on electricity bills.

“It was originally promised from the start of 2011/12 financial year but is pleasing to note that it has now been brought forward to start from March 1 this year.

“It will result in a year-round reduction of 17.5 per cent  for over 815,000 Victorians, including many in the Rodney electorate,” Mr Weller said.

He said the changes effectively double the concessions that were available under the previous Labor Government.

“We will now be providing much-needed financial assistance to people on low incomes through the hot summer months as well as during winter,” Mr Weller said.
