The Electoral Boundaries Commission’s (EBC) redistribution of Victoria’s electoral boundaries will see the Rodney Electorate disappear and broken up to amalgamate with parts of the Shepparton and Bendigo East electorates into the new seats of Euroa and Murray Plains.
The current Member for Rodney Paul Weller said he is committed to continuing to serve the community who elected him through to the next year’s state election on the last Saturday in November.
Mr Weller said despite many strong and high standard submissions to the EBC from many in the Rodney Electorate, the commissioners have decided to stay with the proposed new boundaries.
“As the elected member for Rodney I will continue to focus on delivering a high level of service and deliver good outcomes for the people of rural and regional Victoria,” he said.
Mr Weller said the new Murray Plains Electorate will take in much of the existing Rodney area from Undera and Kyabram across to the current Swan Hill boundary.
In addition, Nathalia, Barmah, Waaia and Picola will move east to the Shepparton Electorate while Stanhope, Rushworth, Heathcote, Merrigum, Girgaree, and Corop will join the new seat of Euroa and Elmore to the Bendigo East Electorate.
