Member for Rodney Paul Weller was pleased to announce that the Victorian Coalition Government was contributing $200,000 towards a $1.93 Million project by EB Mawson & Sons, creating 10 jobs in the region.
EB Mawson and Sons have plans to develop a specialist accredited concrete and quarry testing facility in Echuca. The project will also see a mechanical and steel fabrication workshop built in Cohuna.
Mr Weller said, “As well as creating up to 10 new jobs, the flow on affect to employment and the economy will be significant.”
“The government contribution of $200,000 is being provided through the $10 million Victorian Business Flood Recovery Fund which aims to drive investment and jobs growth in the state’s flood-affected regional areas.” Mr Weller said.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan said that “so far, the fund has provided $4.85 million to 24 flood-affected regional businesses who will invest $98 million, creating 415 new jobs.”
Mr Ryan said the Victorian Business Flood Recovery Fund would help create sustainable jobs in Victoria’s flood-affected regions and encourage private sector investment.
He said flooding across Victoria last year had been among the worst in the State’s history, striking hundreds of communities, ruining homes and businesses, and destroying valuable livestock.
“The Coalition Government is committed to helping Victoria’s flood-affected communities and businesses and put these challenging events right behind them,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Victorian Business Flood Recovery Fund demonstrates the Victorian Government’s commitment to support flood recovery in regional areas.”
The $10 million Victorian Business Flood Recovery Fund will operate until 2012-13.
